Summary: |
As always, Barry's latest book takes place in his hometown, Gloucester, MA. Most of 124 Main Street takes place in and around a pool hall. Although there's no specific times within the events that take place, generally speaking, the story evolves between the late 1950's and the present. The story itself revolves around the lives of four cousins. It is a poignant and moving story of fame and tragedy, of love lost and war, of friendship and murder, and it's a tale of survival. For those readers who are Baby Boomers, the author will take you back to a time when life was not so complicated. Once again, much like his previous work, Barry's vivid imagination will transport the reader into very familiar, and at times very humorous dialogue between himself and two dead guys (Elvis and his brother, Jesse). |
